PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — State-owned plantation holding company PTPN III (Persero) has officially launched Eco Cycle, a digital platform designed to enhance waste management across the plantation industry, particularly in palm oil, rubber, and sugarcane sectors. The initiative is part of the company’s broader effort to promote circular economy practices and accelerate the transition toward a greener and more sustainable industry.
“Eco Cycle will serve as the cornerstone for data-driven waste management and stands as a concrete testament to PTPN’s environmental commitment,” said Denaldy Mulino Mauna, President Director of PTPN III, on Wednesday (July 16).
The app enables real-time waste monitoring and supports more efficient handling of organic waste, while also unlocking commercial potential from plantation and mill residues. According to Denaldy, Eco Cycle is not just a reporting tool but a fully integrated system that combines environmental, operational, and economic elements into a single digital platform.
Ugun Untaryo, Director of Strategy & Sustainability at PTPN IV PalmCo, a subholding under PTPN III, emphasized that the implementation of Eco Cycle at PalmCo marks a significant step forward in digitalizing waste management based on circular economy principles. The system simplifies the identification of key waste sources such as empty fruit bunches, palm oil mill effluent (POME), and boiler ash, while analyzing their potential reuse.
“This opens up vast opportunities for cost savings, alternative energy development, and commercializing waste streams,” Ugun stated as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com via Antara. He also noted that Eco Cycle would reinforce the company’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) efforts and support PTPN Group’s decarbonization strategy.
The app was officially launched at the Pagar Merbau Palm Oil Mill (PKS) in Regional II, North Sumatra. The site was chosen due to its high potential and strong commitment to operational transformation.
Ugun added that Eco Cycle is designed for implementation across all entities under the Nusantara Plantation Holding, including PTPN IV PalmCo (palm oil), PTPN I SupportingCo (rubber and other commodities), and PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara (SGN) for the sugarcane sector.
“This launch marks a key milestone in fostering cross-entity collaboration within the PTPN Group to tackle modern industrial challenges that demand greater efficiency and environmental responsibility,” Ugun concluded. (P3)
