Though Having Challenges, Palm oil Keeps Developing
InfoSAWIT, TARAKAN – Governor of North Kalimantan, Irianto Lambrie admitted, there are lots of challenges to develop palm oil. This makes the development not as advanced as our neighbourhood country, Malaysia. The issues are the social conflicts, and the weaknesses are work ethic, and mindset.
“Palm oil enlargement in East Kalimantan province (before it becomes North Kalimantan province) happened some years ago. The goal is to increase the villagers’ economy, namely the smallholders’,” he said, as quoted from cakrawala.com.
But he mentioned, it is undeniable, palm oil enlargement has pro anc contra, and the big challenges, namely from the NGOs that are against the program.”But we keep running and until now keep developing. The enlargement has many benefits and advantages for the villagers,” he said.
He continued, the lazy should be no more and must have good ethic. “The smallholders should have two kinds of mindset. They should think, how to go forward, should not be easily provocated. The other issue is the supporting infrastructure that is not so good yet,” Irianto said. (T3)
