The Partnership of Smallholders and Big Companies should be the Sample
InfoSAWIT, NUSA DUA – In the spare time of International Palm Oil Conference (IPOC), Coordinator Secretary in Economy, Darmin Nasution, thought, the partnership of smallholders and the big companies in palm oil industry could be the role model to be imitated by other kinds of commodity.
The partnership pattern is important to help the smallholders to increase their productivity.
He said, Indonesia has kinds of plantation products, such as, palm oil, chocolate, rubber, coconut, and spices. But he continued, one thing interesting is that palm oil has bee supported by the good mechanism. For example, it provides the good seeds, and the cooperation (partnership) between the smallholders and the palm oil plantation companies. “Basically, palm oil plantation has lots of meaning. If there is no big plantation, the partnership would not happen knowing that it needs good seeds, good cultivation, and others,” he said in the official statement to InfoSAWIT.
In the same opportunity, General Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture told that the government keeps trying its best to solve every obstacles, including by making and empowering the CPO producer association to increase the productivity.(T1)
