InfoSAWIT, SAMPIT–Member of Comission I, Kotim Legislators, Abdul Khalik  warned that the plantation companies should realize the obligation by providing the plasma areas based on the Regulation of Secretary of Agriculture No. 26 / 2007. The regulation clearly mentioned that the plantation companies having license should develop the areas for the local people (plasma plantation) at least, 20% of the total areas cultivated.

“We also want that the regional government could make data about every plantation in Kotim to know what company has or has not developed the plasma areas,” he said, as quoted from prokal.co.

He felt sorry that there are still companies disobeying the regulation. He also mentioned, of some areal conflicts happening with palm oil plantation companies and the people, the trigger is that there is no plasma plantation for the local people where the companies operate. He continued, the regional government has its rights to force the companies to realize the regulation.

“For days, the Legislators tries to help to minimize the conflict between the sides, which may happen for the companies do not realize their promises,” he said. (T3)
