Indonesia-Malaysia Focus the Trade in Entikong-Tebedu

InfoSAWIT, KUCING– Secretary of Trade, Indonesian Republic, Enggartiasto Lukita together with Secretary of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia, Dato’ Mustapa Muhamed did work visit to Inland Port Tebedu, Malaysia and ‘Pos Lintas Batas Negara (PLBN) Entikong, Sanggau, West Kalimantan, Thursday (13/7). The visit was part of the Secretary of Trade Meeting between Indonesia-Malaysia which was held on 13 July 2017 in Kuching, Malaysia.

“The visit is to normalize the export import trade through Entikong-Tebedu which was stop. It is the follow up on what President of Indonesia ordered to increase the trade,” Secretary of Trade, Enggartiasto Lukita said in the official statement which InfoSAWIT got.

PLBN Entikong is one program of Indonesia to accelerate the development in the border areas based on Presidential Instruction No. 6 / 2015. While Secretary Dato’ Mustapa, thought, Malaysia really hopes that Indonesia could accomplish the development of PLBN Entikong as the international ports, so thatInland Port Tebedu could maximally function.

President Joko Widodo had officially inaugurated PLBN Entikong in December 2016 and it is hoped to operate in 2018. Enggartiasto continued, it is one effort to develop the sides part of Indonesia which has been formulated in ‘Nawa Cita Pemerintahan Jokowi-JK’.

To normalize the Entikong-Tebedu trade, Indonesia hoped the support and the cooperation from Malaysia, namely Serawak as the region which is next to West Kalimantan.

Besides the trade normalization, both countries have done the trade for the people in the two regions to fulfill the daily needs.

In the billateral meeting wrapped in Joint Trade and Investment Committee (JTIC), both Secretaries also discussed billateral trade issues to increase the trade and investment for both.(T2)
